How Do I Use iPIX?
|
| How would you like to ride
on a roller coaster without waiting in long lines or fly in a plane
without leaving the comfort of your own home? Well, with iPIX it is
now possible. iPIX (Internet Pictures Corporation) has developed and
patented a new Internet technology that allows the broadest range
of users to completely immerse themselves in a particular image. This
unique technology allows PC, Mac, WebTV, or even wireless device users,
to view this unique visual content iPIX is offering. With such a wide
range of access, iPIX has deemed this new technology "View Always."
There are two types of iPIX's, Full 360º and Panoramic. Full 360º
pans left or right, looks up and down, and zooms in and out. Panoramic
allows the user to pan left or right in a full circle and zoom in
and out.
How Can I View Full 360º iPIX? To view Full 360º images
an iPIX Plug-in or Viewer must be installed. This download is free
and at its completion you will immediately be able to view the 360º
images and actually feel like you are surrounded by the image. After
downloading the image you still do not see the image, please determine
which browser you are using. (There may be various copies of your
browser on your system) After selecting the correct browser it may
be helpful to write it down, because during the downloading process
you will be asked for the "Destination Directory." The "Destination
Directory" is the file where you are placing the iPIX Viewer.
Navigation in Full 360º is also very simple. After downloading
the plug-in, inside the image there will be a hand instead of a
cursor. If you wish to move inside the image, hold down the left
mouse button, pointing the hand in the direction you would like
to see next. The closer you get to the corner of the image the faster
the image will rotate. If a magnifying glass with a plus sign appears,
it means you will be able to zoom in to see the image up close.
Just hold down the left mouse button to zoom in. The same applies
for a magnifying glass with a minus sign. If the image does not
immediately enlarge, try double-clicking on the image.
How Can I View Panoramic iPIX? Unlike iPIX Full 360º, Panoramic
does not require a download or additional software for users to
view tours. Just click on View iPIX and you will be taken directly
to the object being viewed. To view the entire Panoramic site, click
and drag your mouse on the image or simply use the keyboard's arrow
keys, either will navigate equally as well. In order to zoom in
our out, press the "A" key and tab up or down accordingly.
Minimum Requirements: We recommend using Internet Explorer
4.01 or Netscape 4.05, Windows 95, 98,NT, and Macintosh OS computers.
However, if you do not have it, you will see the same tour in the
basic version.
Are You Still Experiencing Problems-maybe we can help?
I am seeing still-frame pictures, why? You may not have
a Java-enabled browser, which allows the image to pan and zoom.
Therefore, you are only seeing the basic tour. However, all is not
lost. You can still click through the still images to see the complete
tour.
Can I view iPIX even though I am using AOL? Of course! AOL allows
the user to view iPIX regardless of the version they have installed.
If you are using the 16-bit version you will see the basic virtual
tour by clicking through still images. Users running the 32-bit
version will be able to pan left and right and zoom in and out of
the image. How do I know what version I have? If you are
running Windows 3.X, you have the 16-bit version. Those running
Windows 95/98/NT have the 32-bit version.
